UNITE-LA is a non-profit established in 1998 that leads education reform and workforce development initiatives designed to benefit the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second largest school district in the United States.  UNITE-LA’s mission is to promote and support an effective public education system in Los Angeles, emphasizing business and community partnerships with schools, so that all students have access to education and training opportunities preparing them for high-skill, high-wage employment in a fulfilling career of choice, and the regions’ economy and community thrives as a result

  2. UNITE-LA and its close collaborators and affiliates, including the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Pillar and L.A. Youth at Work, conduct activities and services for students, teachers, administrators and parents.

  4. Advocate for effective and aligned education and workforce delivery system from pre-school through college

  5. Cultivate businesses and corporate leaders as education advocates and connect them to schools through formal partnerships

  6. Address the urban dropout crisis by instituting reforms and coordinating services that personalize the educational experience, increase student engagement, and improve access to college

  7. Instill secondary education with rigor and relevance through contextualized and thematic learning that emphasizes the completion of courses leading to post-secondary eligibility

  8. Champion and directly assist in the implementation of rigorous themed small schools and small learning communities in new and existing high schools and middle schools

  9. Facilitate student internships, job shadowing, and youth employment  that provide youth with career exploration and work experience

  10. Conduct events that increase students’ knowledge about and access to college and financial aid resources
