TIPS

Students should be given a specific assignment to complete during the time they are attending the Career Day. This will encourage them to participate and complete an interactive assignment.  The assignment might be a questionnaire to be completed with information from three different employers. Or it might be a game or puzzle that is signed off at the appropriate stations then turned in at the end of the day for a prize. This has been an effective exercise when high school students are visiting college campuses.

College & Career Days

College & Career Day activities are designed to

  • help students think about their interests and abilities in relation to potential careers
  • to meet the people who can assist them in getting the education necessary to achieve a successful career.

UNITE-LA sponsors or participates in many of these events, most specifically the College Is Yours campaign that sends over 10,000 LA area students to visit local colleges. Review our supplemental resources then enroll on-line to participate in College Is Yours!!

College & Career Days may be either on campus or visits to remote sites. Information may be distributed in a variety of ways; through brochures that students receive from visiting firms or school representatives, via formal or informal discussions held in the classroom, during tours at a business or college, or on-line virtual tours and visits to employer websites.
