Best Practice Briefs
- Start planning as soon as possible.
- Know your feeder schools and target them early.
- Ask for upgraded visits, including interviews with professors and counselors.
- Send flyers announcing your event to the HS counselors with a courtesy note to principals.
- Hold a workshop for administrators who accompany the students; it helps improve the quality of
the visit.
- Allow students a sit-down session with an Admissions Advisor to match their current course work with
admission requirements.
- Pull in sponsors to make it exciting. We used a popular local radio station, KIIS FM
- Use smaller groups with 10/1 ratio (student to guide) with plenty of time for student questions.
- Make sure to meet with college students for peer group discussions.
