Best Practice Briefs

  • Start planning as soon as possible.
  • Know your feeder schools and target them early.
  • Ask for upgraded visits, including interviews with professors and counselors.
  • Send flyers announcing your event to the HS counselors with a courtesy note to principals.
  • Hold a workshop for administrators who accompany the students; it helps improve the quality of the visit.
  • Allow students a sit-down session with an Admissions Advisor to match their current course work with admission requirements.
  • Pull in sponsors to make it exciting.  We used a popular local radio station, KIIS FM
  • Use smaller groups with 10/1 ratio (student to guide) with plenty of time for student questions.
  • Make sure to meet with college students for peer group discussions.
