Schedule in advance to allow for busy work
schedules.
Prior to the visit provide the
speaker with information about the class, objectives to be accomplished by the visit and specific questions that students would like answered.
Prior to the visit provide
students with background on the speaker and develop specific questions they will want to ask.
Encourage the students to
write thank you letters to the speaker. This allows the teacher to connect the speaker’s key points to core curriculum. It also improves the students’
social and literacy skills.
