213.325.1524 | [email protected]Ajay 'AJ' Lucas is a Senior Policy Manager at UNITE-LA where he leverages previous experiences to strengthen UNITE-LA's cradle-through-career policy agenda. Lucas is a skilled policy strategist with more than a decade of public, private and nonprofit sector experience.
Prior to joining UNITE-LA’s policy team, Lucas was part of UNITE-LA's workforce development department where he led systems-change efforts to strengthen collaboration among education, business and workforce development leaders to move policies and transform education and workforce systems that prepare and connect workers to high-demand occupations. Lucas has also served as an immigration legal service provider while at the Central American Resource Center and spearheaded CARECEN's partnerships with local community colleges and state universities in Southern California.
After spending nearly 10 years in the fashion industry, working with Fortune 500 fashion companies, Lucas felt compelled to focus on advancing issues he cared most about including education equity, language justice, LGBTQ+ advocacy, immigration reform and economic justice.
He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from UC Berkeley and is currently pursuing a master's degree in public policy at the University of Southern California.
