OBJECTIVES

L.A. Cash for College Workshops:

Each year, more than 6,000 high school seniors and their families from Los Angeles County attend one of nearly 100 workshops at locations across the Los Angeles region, where volunteers form colleges, universities, and businesses provide one-on-one assistance to help them complete the Federal Free Application for Federal Student Aid [FAFSA] and state Cal Grant applications for college financial aid.  more

L.A. Cash for College Scholarship Program:

Awards of $750, $1,000 and $2,500 scholarships are made to qualified high school seniors through a random drawing and verification process.  The purpose of the Scholarship Program is to increase the number of students who

  1. attend the Convention and Workshops

  2. successfully apply for financial aid and Cal Grants

  3. attend college

Scholarship levels reward students who are the most proactive about seeking financial aid assistance.

L.A. Cash for College Ambassador Program:

Ensures that the previous years’ Cash for College scholarship recipients remain enrolled in college by providing them with an additional $3,500 college scholarship to support the continuation of their college education.  In exchange, these youth Ambassadors serve as emissaries of the Campaign to engage and encourage emerging high school seniors to access financial aid and pursue a post-secondary education.

  1. 2010 Program Year Increase:

  2. completion of the Free Application for Financial Student Aid [FAFSA] and Cal Grant applications

  3. submission of grade point average verification

  4. completion of all Convention activities and improve traffic through various areas
