Manager/Senior Manager, Postsecondary Systems & Policy

Position

The Manager or Senior Manager (dependent on relevant skills and experience), Postsecondary Systems & Policy plays a critical role in UNITE-LA's Systems Change team in a dynamic role, supporting the successful implementation of the L.A. Region K-16 Collaborative and state and local policy efforts that influence the postsecondary ecosystem. This position will work with various partners and stakeholders - including education, workforce, and community-based organizations - to advance the goals of the collaborative which are to close equity gaps for Los Angeles area students pursuing educations and careers in healthcare, computer science, and engineering. This position will work internally and externally with policy partners across numerous coalitions to advance UNITE-LA’s strategies that promote college affordability, student success, and employability.

Director of Digital Equity, UNITE-LA/LA DEAL

 

Position Overview

The newly developed Digital Equity Director position will be responsible for LA DEAL’s efforts to meet the primary goal of this project: increase the proportion of Los Angeles County residents able to access broadband through publicly-owned fiber-to-the-home by creating and convening a governance structure for fiber-owning public entities to explore the development of a multi-jurisdictional county-wide fiber network capable of offering consumers fast, reliable and affordable service.

The Director will work in concert with the L.A. County Economic Development Corporation team to stand up and grow this new initiative. Someone who is successful will be able to work with municipal leaders to identify public broadband solutions that meet their needs and inspire them to action. The director will be good at developing workplans, identifying needed capacity and technical assistance to support partners, cultivating relationships, convening municipal and community leaders, tracking progress, and communicate with diverse stakeholders. The Director will have a dual supervision role of UNITE-LA’s Sr. Manager of Equity Initiatives. Additionally, the Director will work closely with a consultant to the project.
