How to manage content and links on your Our Approach page

Answer

The content on your homepage is broken down into into the following sections: ourapproach-guide.jpg

The content and links for each section are managed by dynamically pulling content from a subpage. How to manage the content and links for each section is described below:

Section 1 Subpage

The headline in Section 1 of your Our Approach page can be managed by navigating to Websites > UNITE-LA > our_approach > Subpages > section_1 > Settings in your NationBuilder Control Panel. Enter the Headline text that you want to display for this section in the Headline field.

NOTE: For this section to display properly on your homepage, "Section 1" needs to be entered in the Name field found under the Settings tab for this subpage, like this:

Section 1 also has three nested subsections (a, b & c). These nested subsections are set up as subpages of Section 1. Click on the Subpages tab for Section 1 to access these subsections.

To work properly, the Name for each subsection must be a lowercase letter named in alphabetical order, starting with the letter "a". So for example, the letter "a" is all that should be entered in the Name field found under the Settings tab for section a, like this:

For each subsection, you can customize:

  • The section Headline (found under the Settings tab for each subsection).
  • The body Content (found under the "Content" tab).
  • The icon. To change the icon, upload an image named "thumbnail.png" to the Files tab. The image should be 250px wide by 250px tall, and all white with a transparent background.

NOTE: Each of these subsections is set up to link to an anchor link further down on the Our Approach page. This is "hard-coded" into the theme and cannot be changed without making changes to the custom code for your theme. Make sure that the headline/content/icon you use matches up with the relevant linked section further down on the page.

Section 2 Subpage

The headline in Section 2 of your Our Approach page can be managed by navigating to Websites > UNITE-LA > our_approach > Subpages > section_2 > Settings in your NationBuilder Control Panel. Enter the Headline text that you want to display for this section in the Headline field.

NOTE: For this section to display properly on your homepage, "Section 2" needs to be entered in the Name field found under the Settings tab for this subpage.

Section 2 can also display multiple nested subsections. These nested subsections are set up as subpages of Section 2. Click on the Subpages tab for Section 2 to access these subsections.

So for example, "Section 1" is all that should be entered in the Name field found under the Settings tab for the first subsection.

The background colour of each subsection will be determined automatically by the order in which they are arranged. The first subsection will be red, the second white, the third blue, the fourth white, and then the pattern will repeat. Each subsection includes headline and into content that you can edit. To do so, use the Headline field under the Settings tab for each subsection. You can edit the intro content using the Content field under the Content tab.

  • The link destination. This is where a user will end up when the click the link. Simply enter the slug of the page that you want to link to into the Content field found under the Content tab. Make sure that the slug is entered as plain text (i.e. not an actual link, which would be highlighted in blue and underlined in the editor window).
  • The link icon. By default a pinwheel icon is used, but you can also upload a custom icon to each link subpage under the "files" tab. The icon images should be named "thumbnail.png", be 65px wide by 68px tall, and have a transparent background. If they are contained within a subsection with a blue or red background, the icons should be all-white. If they are contained within a subsection with a white background, a full-colour or mono-colour version (other than white) can be used.
