Cash for College program, a regional initiative seeking to provide access to financial aid information and resources to students in the greater Los Angeles area. Marquez Alvarez is also an active member of UNITE-LA’s Anti-Racism workgroup, a workgroup that seeks to examine, identify, and provide suggestions on the organization’s internal practices, policies, and culture.
Marquez Alvarez was raised in Southern California and has worked in the education, nonprofit sector for more than five years as a college advisor prior to being a program manager in the greater Los Angeles area. She attended community college where she attained several associates degrees before transferring to the University of California, Los Angeles where she attained her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Gender Studies.
When Marquez Alvarez is not at work, she enjoys going on leisurely bike rides and bird watching.
