UNITE-LA, in partnership with the Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti and the City of Los Angeles' Economic & Workforce Development Department, launched the Real World of STEAM programming providing youth (ages 14-24) with career exposure/awareness throughout the different disciplines within the STEAM umbrella. Over the last year of programming, UNITE-LA has served more than 200 youth referred to by our partners at Boyle Heights Tech Center, Para Los Niños and UCLA YouthSource Center.

The Real World of STEAM supports virtual, career-exploration activities and project-based work experiences for youth (ages 14-24) in high-growth sectors, including:
- Science/Biotechnology
- Health Care Sciences
- Technology
- Engineering
- Aerospace
- Advanced Manufacturing

Programming includes:
- Career panels
- Virtual job shadowing
- Career informational sessions with STEAM-related industry professionals moderated by staff
- Youth-led projects and breakout sessions
