
Vice Chancellor, Workforce and Economic Development, California Community College Chancellor’s Office
As the Vice Chancellor of the Workforce and Economic Development Division (WEDD), Anthony Cordova, MBA, leads the development, implementation and management of policies advancing the economic and social mobility for Californians served by community colleges. He is responsible for oversight and management of $1.4 billion dollars of funding provided systemwide in programs and initiatives that are in direct support of Chancellor Christian’s Vision 2030 - Equity in Success, Equity in Access and Equity in Support.
Vice Chancellor Cordova started his higher education career as an adjunct instructor in the Industrial & Occupational Safety program at Taft College. Prior to accepting the position of Vice Chancellor of Workforce and Economic Development, he held the position of Dean of Instruction at Bakersfield College, driving success in career education and workforce development. He currently serves as Vice President of the Board for Valley Achievement Center (a nonprofit organization for autism), serves a member of the Kern County Citizen Energy, served on the Board of Directors for Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the former President Elect of California Community College Association for Occupational Education, former Chair for the California Community College bachelor’s degree steering committee programs and former member for the Kern County Public Waste Hearing Committee.
Cordova, a veteran of the Gulf War, served in the United States Navy as a Boiler Technician. In addition to serving in the military, Cordova has also worked in the private sector within the engineering and manufacturing industry. Currently, Cordova, his wife of 25 years and six dogs reside in Bakersfield, CA, and enjoy spending any time away from work doing various activities such as walks, hot yoga, golfing and chasing the dogs.
