Assistant Vice President and Chair, Los Angeles Regional Consortium
Dr. Narineh Makijan is the Assistant Vice President and Chair of the Los Angeles Regional Consortium (LARC). Dr. Makijan is also a professor at University of Southern California (USC) Rossier School of Education, since 2018. In her 20-year career in counseling and career and technical education programs, Dr. Narineh Makijan has focused on connecting learners at all levels to training and workforce development in Los Angeles County.
As the Assistant Vice President and Chair, she brings together the capabilities of LARC to build a collaboration among the county’s 19 community colleges that leverages existing and emerging workforce development resources to build the county’s post-COVID economy. Furthermore, she supports and aids colleges in harnessing the external resources necessary to execute robust workforce program initiatives aimed at improving workforce preparedness across all 19 community colleges in Los Angeles. This helps establish pathways connecting students to jobs and employers, thus driving Los Angeles' innovative economy.
Dr. Makijan, leads LARC to ensure it serves its mission to coordinate, collaborate, organize and facilitate interaction in the region to ensure workforce training is provided to all in a way that is accessible, efficient, responsive, data-driven and improves outcomes.
