STATEMENT FROM UNITE-LA ON THE RESIGNATION OF LAUSD SUPERINTENDENT ALBERTO CARVALHO
LOS ANGELES – The following is a statement on the resignation of Superintendent Alberto Carvalho as the head of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Carvalho also serves as a UNITE-LA board member.
"UNITE-LA was proud to be co-founded by the Los Angeles Unified School District nearly three decades ago, and that founding partnership remains central to everything we do. Superintendent Alberto Carvalho has been a valued member of UNITE-LA's Board of Directors, and we thank him for his service, his leadership and his partnership with our organization and the broader cradle-through-career community we serve," noted Alysia Bell, President, UNITE-LA.
"As LAUSD enters its next chapter of leadership, UNITE-LA remains steadfast in our shared mission of ensuring every student has access to the pathways, opportunities and support needed to thrive. We look forward to continued collaboration with the District's leadership team and Board of Education to advance equitable economic mobility and strengthen Los Angeles' future workforce," Bell concluded.
