Senior Manager, L.A. Region K-16 Collaborative

 

About the Position

UNITE-LA seeks a collaborative professional with strong project management, strategy development, and stakeholder engagement skills to join an innovative team dedicated to the alignment and transformation of public systems to achieve education and workforce equity.

This new Senior Manager position will play a critical role in UNITE-LA’s Systems Change team to drive the successful development of the L.A. Region K-16 Collaborative, a muti-year collective impact effort that aims to close racial and gender gaps in postsecondary enrollment and attainment and employment in L.A. County, starting with a focus on building equitable pathways to health care, engineering and computer science careers.

Key Goals and Objectives of the K-16 Collaborative are:

  • Increase postsecondary enrollment, degree completion in health care, computing and engineering, and the percentage of students employed in their field of study, while eliminating racial disparities.
  • Enhance and expand dual enrollment, articulated transfer, and work-based learning opportunities, strengthening K-12, community college, and college/university matriculation.
  • Develop and support regional and subregional collaboration to strengthen problem-solving capacity.

As the regional convener for the K-16 Collaborative, UNITE-LA is supporting the development of five subregional partnerships in L.A. County that will coalesce leaders across K-12 districts, two- and four-year colleges to streamline and accelerate education to career pathways. This position will primarily lead efforts to: stay in tune with the emerging needs of these subregional partnerships; mobilize technical assistance supports; promote learning and problem solving across the five partnerships; create and implement regular communication vehicles; and manage data and progress reporting requirements.

Public Affairs Director, Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach

 

Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach (ELALB) is an early development and education demonstration school, funded through a public-private partnership focused on uplifting best practices in the LA region and across California. Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach is part of the National Educare Learning Network (ELN). Collectively, the ELN schools and national evaluation partner use data on the implementation of best practices to advance quality early learning, lift the existing quality work and serve as a platform to drive change among policymakers, business leaders and early childhood education providers.

Position

The Public Affairs Director’s principal function is to lead ELALB’s fund development efforts. The Public Affairs Director will cultivate local, state and national partnerships and with the support of the Educare Advisory Board, work towards raising operational resources. The Public Affairs Director will serve as liaison to the Long Beach Education Foundation (Foundation) and the ELALB Advisory Board. Director will work in close partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) and UNITE-LA, to effectively execute ELALB’s mission.

UNITE-LA shall serve as employer of record for the Public Affairs Director and will report to both the Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at UNITE LA and LBUSD Director of Head Start Program. The Public Affairs Director will coordinate recurring team check-in meetings to support the implementation of ELALB’s goals and objectives. Senior Coordinator, Programs

 

Position

The Senior Coordinator of Programs functions within UNITE-LA's Programs Team and reports to the Senior Manager, Business Services on the Employer Engagement Team. The position will be responsible for the coordination of the following key areas of work:

Partnership Engagement/Intermediary Functions: provide leadership to help define program goals and strategies; provide outreach and coordination of business and employer companies; work with targeted companies to identify needs, competencies and the desired attributes of its future workforce; ensure these needs are clearly and regularly communicated to our educational partners; help align current educational programming across systems (K12, Community College, WIOA, and 4-year institutions) to develop clearly defined and articulated pathways; work with targeted companies to provide internships and employment opportunities; and assist and engage employer partners with curriculum development and program design.

Program Coordination: organize meetings, events and programs; produces summary reports of meetings and events; track roles and responsibilities; maintain databases and contact records; coordinate website updates and creation of marketing materials; set and meet project priorities and deadlines.

Event Planning: provide support for designated employer programming and events including, but not limited to, logistical and operational support; event and meeting correspondence; program organization, coordination, and implementation; produce high caliber professional style memorandums, written correspondence, meeting minutes, and marketing copy.

Employer Outreach: assist with business recruitment, and serve as a business services liaison. Will be responsible for business engagement, coordinating, attending and executing recruitment events, job fairs and employer engagement events.
