The Senior Manager of Workforce Programs and Special Projects functions within UNITE-LA's workforce development team and reports to the Vice President of Business Education Partnerships.
The position will manage the implementation of special projects aligned with UNITE-LA's workforce development goals in partnership with regional stakeholders including education and workforce systems partners integral to improving the K-16 systems, such as community colleges, community-based organizations, employers and business organizations.
The position will work collaboratively with the workforce team to develop a comprehensive and integrated work plan to support the implementation of programming focused on cultivating a local talent pipeline inclusive of the region's diverse and underrepresented populations. This work will be led with an emphasis on building alliances with the region's 19 community colleges to connect graduating (credentialed/degreed) students with jobs and living wage careers in high-growth, high demand industries such as healthcare and technology.

The Senior Manager will advance UNITE-LA’s systems change efforts to build a skilled workforce aligned to regional employer demand for talent and inclusive and representative of local, diverse communities. To advance our goals, UNITE-LA works closely with partners across business, education, government, community-based organizations, philanthropy, and other stakeholders committed to developing an inclusive and equitable economy through workforce development. The position will primarily focus on convening our partners around systems change efforts and managing related special projects and policy advocacy efforts. Examples of this portfolio include convening regional education and workforce systems leaders to collaborate towards equitable economic recovery; credential transparency efforts; and facilitating regional collaboration around developing a skilled health care workforce that is representative of local diverse communities through equitable career pathways. Reporting to UNITE-LA’s Senior Manager of Education Business Coalitions, the Manager of Education Business Coalitions is passionate about meaningfully engaging the business community in issues related to education and talent development (e.g., workforce development, justice reform, diversity, equity and inclusion).
This position is focused on supporting chambers of commerce and other business organizations across the country via UNITE-LA’s partnership with the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).
This position will simultaneously (a) advance the organizational mission through strategic program growth and relationship development with key stakeholders and (b) execute and report on specific deliverables for our grant-funded work.
The ideal candidate has experience working with chambers of commerce and/or other business organizations and excels at project management as well as both written and verbal communication.
