Research & Evaluation Manager

 

Position

UNITE-LA seeks a skilled, dynamic, motivated, and detailed-oriented Research and Evaluation (R&E) Manager to manage research and evaluation projects that support the overall success of UNITE-LA’s work. The R&E Manager will report to the Vice President of Research and Evaluation, collaborate closely with other members of the R&E team, and collaborate on a project-specific basis with other UNITE-LA staff.

This is an outstanding opportunity to play a critical role at UNITE-LA. The Research and Evaluation (R&E) Manager must have proven competencies in research, evaluation, and writing, coupled with strong project management skills and a commitment to equity and social justice. Scope of work includes research on, and evaluation of, education and workforce development issues, programs, and policies; collaborative agenda setting and convening support for meetings; and administrative work in support of R&E.

This position will serve as the R&E Manager for UNITE-LA’s various bodies of work in education, workforce programs, policy, and systems change. The ideal candidate enjoys data, research, and evaluation; managing and executing projects; and collaboration, including working with a diverse group of colleagues and external partners. This individual is highly organized and able to prioritize, multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Director, Workforce Development Systems and Policy

 

Position

Reporting to the Vice President of Systems Change Strategy, the Director will advance UNITE-LA's efforts to build a skilled workforce aligned to regional employer demand for talent and that is inclusive and representative of local, diverse communities. The position will oversee the advancement of UNITE-LA’s workforce development systems change and policy advocacy goals which include:

  • Increase the capacity of public workforce development systems and education/training programs in L.A. County and California to achieve racial equity and improved economic outcomes for Opportunity Youth and low-income workers
  • Improve alignment between education and workforce training systems and regional employer demand for skills and talent in high-growth industries
  • Build public and political will at local, state and federal levels to advance equity-centered workforce development policies through coalition building, joint advocacy, and elevating the voices of Opportunity Youth and low-income workers
  • Influence and inform employer practices to improve hiring, retention, and upward mobility of Opportunity Youth and low-income workers

The Director will be a strategic and collaborative leader with strong knowledge of workforce development systems and/or policy in California and experience in racial equity work. The Director will serve as a leader and public face for UNITE-LA's workforce development systems and related policy initiatives, responsible for advancing impact through partnerships with business, education, government, community-based organizations, philanthropy, labor and/or other stakeholders committed to developing an inclusive and equitable economy through workforce development. The Director will influence and drive change through these relationships and play a critical role in fundraising, communications, and strategic partnerships.

L.A. Compact Coordinator

 

Position

UNITE-LA seeks a dynamic and detailed-oriented Coordinator to join our backbone team to advance the success of the L.A. Compact's collective impact goals. The Project Coordinator is a newly created position designed to address emerging organizational needs, such as supporting with workgroup management and coordination, event planning, and communication efforts. The Project Coordinator will be part of UNITE-LA's Systems Change team responsible for driving the L.A. Compact's work forward to ensure that every child and youth – from across all racial, gender, socio-economic, and immigrant backgrounds, and abilities – receives what they need to thrive in school and succeed in work and in life. The coordinator will report to the L.A. Compact Senior Manager and work collaboratively with a team of six staff in UNITE-LA's Department of Systems Change Initiatives.

Manager, Innovation and Technology Initiatives

 

Position

The Manager, Innovation and Technology Initiatives is a member of UNITE-LA’s workforce development programs team. This position will help lead the organization's STEAM initiatives and manage programming to promote quality cradle to career, STEAM education and regional talent development. The Manager, Innovation and Technology Initiatives will also support the team in cultivation of industry partnerships in high-growth, high-demand innovative professions and will work closely with both public and private sector partners for implementation.
