The South L.A. Intern Pledge is part of the wider 1,000 Interns Initiative set up by UNITE-LA, LA-Tech.org and L.A.'s tech community. With the goal to make L.A.'s tech industry more inclusive, the 1,000 Interns Initiative provides meaningful career opportunities to groups who have been historically disconnected from the sector. We are committed to tackling the racial and economic disparities in L.A.'s tech community by making sure career opportunities are equally accessible. We know students who choose a career in tech versus the median job in L.A. County earn $2 million more over their lifetime.
UNITE-LA has teamed up with L.A. County Supervisor Holly Mitchell and LA-Tech.org's cohort of more than 40 tech CEOs and employers to give a unique opportunity for 100 young people from South L.A. to have their first internship in tech this summer. We are working with the Supervisor's office to arrange for wrap-around service and support to make sure our youth have the best experience possible. If you are interested in taking part, take the pledge.
