On Wednesday, July 27, Educare hosted their first campus tour of the 2022-23 school year with funder First 5 California. First 5 California has worked to improve the lives of children and families throughout California. They were one of the first organizations to donate to Educare, giving almost $3 million! With their support, Educare established many of their staff positions, lower ratios and classroom sizes, dual immersion, family resources, professional development and more.
Jackie Wong, Executive Director, First 5 California, and Sara Bachez, Deputy Director of External and Governmental Affairs, First 5 California, joined Educare Principal Maria Harris; Educare Public Affairs Director Genetric Brown; and UNITE-LA President Alysia Bell for an hour-long tour speaking directly with Educare educators to discuss high-quality practices, teacher qualifications, mental health services, public affairs work and rebuilding the school community post pandemic.
The following day, Thursday, July 28, Educare hosted First 5 California's July Commission Meeting. The full-day meeting convened commissioners to review current programs and future investments in the areas of Child Health, Child Development and Family Functioning. Educare is proud to serve as a thought leader/partner with First 5 California on key issues related to early childhood education.
