Beyond employer engagement, Barrera designs and facilitates tech career experiences that help young people develop real-world skills and professional portfolios. With a growing focus on AI-powered learning, digital skills and hands-on experiences, Barrera helps youth build the skills needed to enter the tech workforce.
Lacking formal higher education but self-taught in many fields, Barrera joined UNITE-LA through the C.O.R.E. Internship Program, which provides paid career exploration and on-the-job experience to young adults with a history of criminal justice involvement. Drawing from her own lived experience, she is passionate about expanding equitable access to high-growth, high-wage careers for opportunity youth and underserved students.
Most of her free time is spent taking things apart or designing on Blender.
