This month's partner spotlight belongs to the California African American Chamber of Commerce (CAAACC). As California’s largest statewide, Black chamber organization, their educational and advocacy programs are directly in line with the work of UNITE-LA. The CAAACC drives equitable public policies that expand access to economic opportunities and level the playing field for African American businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as the African American community overall.
With this alignment, UNITE-LA is proud to note that CAAACC has grown into one our strongest business allies and has provided support on several key initiatives to drive equitable economic mobility. On the legislative front, they have joined advocacy efforts on bills such as AB 789 (Berman) – Satisfactory Academic Progress; AB 596 (Reyes) – Early Childhood: Child Care and Education; and SB 731 (Durazo) – Re: Criminal Records. CAAACC has also supported UNITE-LA’s programs focused on systems-involved individuals and dual language learners, in addition to demonstrating their support for our recent 25th Anniversary Symposium.
Because of this and more, we hope you will join us at the CAAACC’s State of the California African American Economy Summit in Los Angeles on Jan. 24-25 for an opportunity to connect with industry, multi-sector advocates, political leaders and visionaries from across the state to explore how to think, act and do business differently to drive economic opportunity and wealth creation for African American companies.
