Caring for Children - In the Present and for the Future

The mission of Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is to create hope and build healthier futures. CHLA is investing in work to support the development of youth through programs that lead to healthy and rewarding careers. Through a formal partnership with UNITE-LA, CHLA is committed to college and career readiness programs to help build and cultivate a diverse, local talent pipeline to meet the region’s growing health care talent pipeline demands.

Through this partnership, CHLA recently invested in UNITE-LA programs to award scholarships to students through the Alma Salazar Scholarship and to fund and volunteer for programs that bring career awareness/exposure, preparation and training to help young adults from underrepresented communities discover career pathways forward. The supported programs include: L.A. Cash for College, Future Forward Forums, L.A. Youth at Work and the Real World of STEAM.

UNITE-LA also serves as a pipeline to workforce development programs offered by CHLA, including Camp CHLA and CHAMP, to provide meaningful work experience and to bridge the opportunity gap in the health care industry for underrepresented youth in Los Angeles.
