The National Skills Coalition (NSC) has honored our beloved, former Executive Vice President of UNITE-LA, Dr. Alma Salazar, with an award to be given yearly at their national conference. Alma served as a board member of NSC. The Dr. Alma Salazar Bridge Builder Award celebrates those who bring people together for inclusive skills training policy. Melinda Mack, Executive Director of the New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP), was named as the first award recipient at this year's NSC 2022 Skills Summit on Feb. 17.

We are so grateful to NSC for not only recognizing Alma, but for the work they do – work that Alma and UNITE-LA believes so strongly in for the health of our future workforce. As NSC states on its website, "jobs that require skills training are the backbone of our economy." As such, the NSC "fights for a national commitment to inclusive, high-quality skills training so that more people have access to a better life, and more local businesses see sustained growth." Because of this work, future employees and their employers face a brighter tomorrow.
