L.A. Metro is driving opportunities that allow students to experience a seven-week Transportation Career Academy Program Virtual Summer Internship on career and academic exploration in the transportation industry. This summer, 136 interns will connect with their peers and professionals in team building activities and career planning to support their personal and professional development.
L.A. Metro’s partnership, led by Marion Colston, senior director, Strategic & Organizational Planning, has been instrumental in providing opportunities for high school youth from diverse communities to develop essential workplace skills and experience needed to access onramps to future jobs and careers. Through this partnership, UNITE-LA serves as an intermediary to build and strengthen the core competencies of youth participants with workforce training/readiness in preparation for their internship experience and provides staff support to facilitate student sessions. This summer, UNITE-LA's Leng Ear, senior program coordinator, L.A. Youth at Work, has facilitated the student project team session to support their preparation for their capstone presentations. UNITE-LA has partnered with L.A. Metro since 2006 and referred more than 600 youth for this awesome program in support of HIRE-LA's Youth!
