Policy Happenings: Speaking Out with Business

On Feb. 12, UNITE-LA convened business leaders, economic development partners and community stakeholders for a press conference in Los Angeles to highlight growing concerns about workforce instability and its impact on local businesses and regional economic health.

UNITE-LA called on Congress to prioritize workforce stability and economic continuity in federal appropriations decisions, urging lawmakers to align federal spending with workforce and economic needs. The press conference had an estimated reach of more than 1.6 million viewers across 15 local TV segments on major L.A. stations, including ABC and CBS, and an article on La Opinión.

Additionally, alongside 24 business organizations representing a cross-section of California's business community, UNITE-LA sent a letter to members of Congress expressing serious concerns about proposed increased federal immigration enforcement funding and its consequences for California's workforce and economy.

Through this collective advocacy, we aim to underscore how vital responsible federal funding decisions are to reinforce the stability of California's workforce and our regional economies.
