As President Biden highlighted in his address to Congress Wednesday night, our economy is not working for everyone. This truth was brought into bold relief by the pandemic. Millions right here in L.A. County and California are being left behind.
As the Biden Administration marks its first 100 days, UNITE-LA is reminded of how important our Principles for a New Economy are and how vital their alignment to federal, state and local policies truly is. From equity and inclusion, immigration reform, economic relief, anti-racism and more, we remain committed to holding our leaders and ourselves accountable to these principles so that every youth – from cradle through career – has the opportunity to succeed in school and at work.
We invite you to listen to UNITE-LA’s Vice President of Education Policy and Public Affairs, Sonia Campos-Rivera, discuss the principles in more detail. UNITE-LA can also serve as a resource to assist you in contacting legislative leaders and encouraging them to be guided by the principles as they make decisions to move the economy and our communities out of COVID-19.
Read the full principles here.
Sincerely,
David Rattray
