Along with the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), UNITE-LA co-leads the LA Digital Equity Action League (LA DEAL), working with a wide-reaching coalition of stakeholders (including high-level leaders from the city, the County, unified school districts, local education agencies, universities, nonprofits, small and big internet companies, and businesses) to eliminate the digital divide for everyone in L.A. County.
In mid-May, the LA DEAL finished its initial rounds of convenings focused on identifying sector-specific broadband challenges (education, health, business, CBO, ISP, philanthropy and tech), and on May 26, launched taskforces focused on identifying obstacles, solutions and opportunities to address the digital divide – broken out into the following taskforce groups: Broadband Infrastructure, Affordability, Digital Literacy, Devices and Policy.
