Last month, 80 advocates for community broadband gathered at the City of L.A.’s Bureau of Street Lighting to delve into broadband as a public good.

UNITE-LA and LAEDC were there alongside leadership from the California Community Foundation, who has supported the significant expansion of LA DEAL. UNITE-LA’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, Amy Cortina, spoke about community partnerships, state budget challenges, duties as the California Public Utilities Commission’s designated Regional Broadband Consortium and leaning into LA DEAL’s expanded role in publicly owned broadband.
