In partnership with the Alliance for Candidate Engagement in Education, UNITE-LA recently co-hosted two candidate forums focused on the future of education and workforce development in California ahead of the upcoming elections.
In March, candidates for Superintendent of Public Instruction—including Al Muratsuchi, Josh Newman, Anthony Rendon, Nichelle Henderson and Richard Barrera—participated in a discussion centered on educational equity, student success, teacher shortages and the future of education governance in California. In April, Lieutenant Governor candidates Michael Tubbs and Oliver Ma joined a conversation exploring the role of the Lieutenant Governor in advancing education, affordability, student support and economic mobility.
Together, the forums underscored the important role Los Angeles plays in shaping statewide conversations on education and workforce policy. By convening candidates, educators and community leaders around these critical issues, UNITE-LA continues to elevate cradle-through-career priorities and advance dialogue on equitable pathways to economic opportunity across California.
