The third cohort of the Los Angeles Regional Cleantech Academy is underway. Forty-seven students, ages 17-24, are spending 12 weeks learning about essential skills, industry sectors, local employers and career pathways into the emerging, clean energy economy. As part of this, and with April marking Earth Month, here are some examples of their opportunities.
- Our students participated in the West Basin Municipal Water District Industry Night, in partnership with El Camino College, where they had the opportunity to identify career pathways and training within water infrastructure.
- As part of April's Solar Week, our cohort visited Chargie, where students learned about solar cells and electric vehicles powered by solar. Students had the opportunity to connect with Chargie CEO, Zach Jennings, who shared his entrepreneurial journey and the importance of mentorship.
- As part of Renewable Energy week, our cohort visited the SoCal Edison Energy Education Center, where students had an opportunity to learn more about renewable energy sources in the utilities market, as well the electrification movement occurring in transportation.
Through the Cleantech Academy, our goal is to develop a diverse, inclusive, local workforce to meet the industry's talent pipeline needs.
