My Pathway to Health is a new program for UNITE-LA, connecting opportunity youth (out of school and out of work), ages 18-24, to careers in allied health. Launching May 9, My Pathway to Health is a paid opportunity and will provide participants the chance to explore careers and educational opportunities as phlebotomists, community health workers and peer support specialists.
Mentors will help support students in selecting a career pathway and with the application process for their chosen certificate program. Once accepted into a certificate program of their choice, students will continue to receive support from mentors, UNITE-LA staff and wrap-around support from partnering community-based organizations to ensure they have what they need to succeed. After receiving their certificate and passing the required tests, UNITE-LA will support participants in securing paid placements. Students also receive professional and personal development training and will have the opportunity to earn a Basic Life Support certification, which is a requirement for many health care professionals. The program is divided into three sections: Career Exploration (May 9-June 8), Career Training [June 20-September/October (dependent on pathway)] and Job Placement (September-Ongoing).
We are currently recruiting mentors to help support youth throughout the process. If you are interested in volunteering and learning more, complete the volunteer interest form. We are currently accepting applications - click here for the flyer with more information and the link to apply.
