Last October, we lost our beloved colleague, friend and mentor, Dr. Alma Salazar, to cancer. In her role as Executive Vice President of UNITE-LA, Alma was a fierce fighter for L.A. area youths' access to education. And we also know her sweet spot was her devotion to higher education. Her spirit continues to have each of us do better and do more for the youth we serve. As we come upon one year since her passing, we want to honor her by doing what we know she would have wanted us to do – bigger, better work to encourage students to complete financial aid applications, whether it be through hands-on help or simply by spreading the word.
