Last month, the L.A. Opportunity Youth Collaborative (OYC), which is co-led by the Alliance for Children’s Rights and UNITE-LA, presented at the City of L.A.'s Workforce Development Board (WDB) Youth Council meeting on the Horizons 32K Strategic Plan.
The Youth Council is one of four standing committees of the WDB designed to develop portions of the WDB’s local plan relating to youth by recommending and approving eligible providers of youth activities and conducting oversight of those programs. The Youth Council called upon community members, stakeholders and policymakers to unite in support of the Horizons 32K Plan. Through prevention and reconnection strategies, Horizons partners will develop systemic solutions to engage 32,000 more young people in education and career pathways, cultivating foundational knowledge and workplace opportunities integral to youth development.
