Last month, UNITE-LA and their partners from WestEd met with nearly a dozen Cal State Dominguez Hills student services staff and administrators for a half-day training to explore how they might redesign the transfer student experience.
Together they took a design-thinking approach, a series of mindsets and activities to solve complex problems, to clearly map the transfer student experience. To get there, they analyzed public-facing data, dialogued around transfer student challenges and actualized what a good transfer experience should be. Through this process, staff identified questions they would like to ask students in an empathy interview process. In the next few weeks, CSUDH staff will speak with students to ground their work in students' experiences and values to ideate solutions.
