UNITE-LA is pleased to continue its partnership support to ensure students from underrepresented communities have access to exposure to the real world of tech. In early February, we kicked off the Fika Tech Career Academy in partnership with LA-Tech.org, L.A. County American Job Centers of California and Fika Ventures. We celebrated the incoming class of 50 scholars entering paid work-based learning experiences to learn all about the business side of technology. Over the course of 10 weeks, Academy scholars will learn about product management and design, marketing, sales, venture capital and entrepreneurship and participate in a hands-on activity related to these career paths. The goal of these 10 weeks is for scholars to get exposure to the practice areas and skills needed to pursue a career in product management, marketing, sales, and entrepreneurship, and ultimately, get them a job in the technology industry.
