On Dec. 8, UNITE-LA joined the Downtown L.A. Walking Tour hosted by the Select Committee on Downtown Revitalization, alongside Assemblymembers Matt Haney and Mark Gonzalez, representatives from Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove’s office and Councilmember Isabel Jurado.

The goal of the tour was to ground policymakers in the on-the-ground challenges and opportunities shaping downtown’s recovery. UNITE-LA and Los Angeles Economic Equity Accelerator and Fellowship (LEEAF) co-presented insights on the economic role of immigrant workers and the impacts recent immigration raids are having on small businesses and surrounding communities, offering a clear lens into how immigration policy directly influences downtown’s economic strength.
