Last month, our Programs and Systems Change Teams collaborated to co-present to the Youth Council of the L.A. City Workforce Development Board. UNITE-LA presented on the successes of the 2021-22 Cash for College season, highlighting that 70 percent of LAUSD high school seniors completed the FAFSA or CADAA - up from 63 percent in the prior year, and well above the state average of 52 percent. In addition to our college access programming, our team is working with LAUSD to reduce counselor ratios (currently 500:1) and increase channels through which students receive postsecondary advising services – further amplifying the impact of our college access efforts.
