UNITE-LA Today: Opposing Proposed Changes to Head Start

We are grateful to the 47 California business organizations that joined UNITE-LA in opposing proposed changes to Head Start.

For more than 60 years, Head Start has provided eligible families with free, high-quality early learning and health services, strengthening families while helping build a strong workforce pipeline for California businesses. Research shows that investing in Head Start delivers lasting economic benefits, with every $1 invested generating an estimated $7–$9 return. If enacted, the proposed rule changes would eliminate many of Head Start’s quality and service standards, putting these short- and long-term benefits at risk for children, parents and businesses.

UNITE-LA and our business partners urge the Administration to rescind this proposal and submitted the formal comment last week. Read the full letter to learn more about our concerns and why California business leaders are calling for these changes to be rescinded.
