UNITE-LA is incredibly grateful to Vermont Slauson Economic Development Corporation (VSEDC) for its partnership in co-hosting the “Rooted & Ready: Immigrant Talent Driving L.A.’s Future” webinar last month.
Speaking to small-business owners in the South L.A. area, UNITE-LA walked participants through its Business Perspectives on Immigrant Talent & Economic Growth findings; Jermaine Hampton, vice president, Workforce Development and Special Projects, Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), highlighted labor-force gaps in logistics, construction and disaster-recovery work; and our wonderful board member, Angelica Salas, executive director, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), outlined their Know Your Rights resources for employers facing heightened ICE activity. VSEDC president, Quentin Strode, closed with the importance of uplifting this critical issue. Updated Know Your Rights resources provided by CHIRLA may be found on our website here.
