The hearing, chaired by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, was hosted at Burbank City Hall and focused on the impact of the wildfires and immigration raids on child care access, as well as the costs that go into providing quality care. UNITE-LA's Kelly Reynolds, director, Education and Workforce Strategy & Policy, testified on the economic impacts of child care and how increasing provider wages and raising reimbursement rates to reflect the true costs of providing care would not only help support children, families and providers, but also support the economy at large.
