UNITE-LA Today: Step into Tech Launch

UNITE-LA will be launching the second cohort of its Step into Tech program on May 18. The program is being offered to systems-involved individuals, ages 18-35. Over the course of five weeks for a total of 15 hours, participants will have the opportunity to listen and learn about different career pathways in tech and entrepreneurship from six career professionals from companies that include Meta, Snap Inc., xahive, Silverline, IH Communications and Third and Grove.

Participants will then hear from six training organizations offering free training in tech and entrepreneurship, including cybersecurity, IT support, web design, AI/AX, data science and more, providing them the opportunity to explore their options as they are supported by mentors in creating their pathway forward.

UNITE-LA is also partnering with the Los Angeles Justice, Care and Opportunities Department and Root and Rebound to provide a presentation and resources on Fair Chance Hiring laws and expungement, and with Cornell University's Criminal Justice and Education Initiative to provide a specifically tailored job skills workshop for systems-involved individuals. Thanks to funding from the California Workforce Development Board, we are also offering participant stipends. Click here for the flyer to learn more and find the link to apply.
