UNITE-LA Today: Strengthening Health Care Pathways through Hands-On Learning

Last month UNITE-LA’s My Pathway to Health (MPTH) participants took part in an immersive, hands-on learning experience at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world exposure, the experience helped participants build the skills, confidence and professional awareness needed to pursue careers in health care.

The day included comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training led by highly skilled instructors, giving participants the opportunity to develop essential, industry-recognized skills. Participants then took part in a guided tour of the hospital, gaining insight into clinical environments, workplace expectations and the wide range of health care careers available to them. Experiences like this help participants explore potential careers while envisioning themselves in these roles and building motivation to continue along their pathways.

We are grateful to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for welcoming our MPTH cohort and helping create meaningful opportunities for participants to explore health care careers.
