UNITE-LA hosted its third Health Sector Collaborative of 2024 and was joined by 24 members who consisted of educators, community business organizations and employers in health care.
UNITE-LA was joined by Shannon Sedgwick, senior director of the LAEDC Institute for Applied Economics, and presented findings from L.A. Region K-16 Collaborative: Enhancing Student Transitions and Workforce Readiness in Health Care, a commissioned report on the health care industry labor market in L.A. Highlighted key areas for feedback included identified skills (both technical and soft), occupations and challenges in hiring and finding prepared talent, and explored opportunities to inform and collaborate on supporting a robust system of care for Angelenos by understanding industry talent needs and pipelines.
