UNITE-LA Today: Together for Change

On Aug. 14, UNITE-LA had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Cleantech Academy Summer 2025 Graduation Ceremony, held at the John Ferraro Building in Downtown L.A. The event was an opportunity for UNITE-LA and LADWP to celebrate four Cleantech alumni, Princess Leus, Felix Peng, Jocelyn Mungia and Vivian Morales, successfully completing their 10-week summer internship program. The lively celebration featured a full agenda organized by LADWP, including a group photo, lunch, a presentation from recruitment services, intern presentations, mentor remarks and certificate presentations.

For this summer internship program, the four interns were placed within various divisions within LADWP, including Information Technology Services, Power New Business and Electrification, Water Distribution and Water Quality. With the guidance from their assigned mentors, each intern had the opportunity to work on meaningful projects and support LADWP’s mission of providing clean and reliable water to Angelenos. In addition to their projects, they also conducted site visits to water quality testing labs, the Pine Tree Wind Farm and the San Francisquito Power Plant. As the internship ends, the event not only recognizes the interns’ accomplishments but also highlights UNITE-LA and LADWP’s shared commitment to provide hands-on experience in clean energy, water management and public service.
