In August, UNITE-LA's Edgar Castillo, senior manager, Workforce Development Policy and Systems, spoke before the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee to request their support in signing the National Skills Coalition’s Business Leaders United Appropriations sign-on letter.
As Congress shifts focus to Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations, Business Leaders United for Workforce Partnerships is circulating a business-only sign-on letter to show backing for federal investments in skills training and workforce development. The letter will be sent to Congress and highlights the President’s significant $1.6 billion cuts across 11 vital workforce programs, emphasizing the need for Congress to sustain and boost funding for skills training and workforce initiatives, which are essential for helping businesses find skilled workers for current and future job openings. After Edgar’s presentation, the Santa Monica Chamber agreed to sign the letter. For additional details, please contact Edgar.
