This September, UNITE-LA supported several presentations at local and national conferences on efforts related to opportunity youth, apprenticeships, tech pathways, California's Master Plan for Career Education and the Los Angeles Region K-16 Collaborative. The unifying theme across these events was the critical need for ongoing alignment of systems and resources, as well as improved cross-sector relationships, accountability and trust, to effectively advance our shared vision of equitable and thriving futures for our students and families.
- At the SoCal 2024 Grantmakers Annual Conference, Better Together: Creating a Collective Legacy, UNITE-LA partners presented the Horizons 32K strategic plan, which serves as a blueprint to connect 32,000 opportunity youth to quality education, training and employment pathways. UNITE-LA also served on a panel that provided implementation updates on California’s Master Plan for Career Education.
- At Ed Trust West’s Annual Education Equity Forum 2024: Authenticity & Action, UNITE-LA showcased the Los Angeles Region K-16 Collaborative’s subregional approach to enhancing education-to-workforce pathways and leveraging state funds for collective impact, providing actionable insights for maintaining effective regional collaboratives.
- At Meeting of the Minds 2024 Conference: From Innovation to Implementation, UNITE-LA led two sessions, one highlighting apprenticeship programs as powerful tools for fostering innovative alliances and provided actionable guidance on partnership development and another showcasing innovative models for equipping students with skills that promote career persistence, along with practical strategies for developing strong workforce partnerships, particularly for justice-involved youth in the tech sector.
- At the Kresge Foundation's Annual Conference - Our Urban Future: The Next Era of Making Change in America's Cities, UNITE-LA served as a panelist discussing how to build and sustain urban higher education ecosystems for regional prosperity, emphasizing strategies for better connecting higher education to high quality, sustainable career paths.
