UNITE-LA’s Edgar Castillo, senior manager of Workforce Development Systems & Policy, presented at the Valley Industry & Commerce Association’s (VICA's) Labor & Employment Committee meeting to discuss updates on the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA).

VICA’s Labor & Employment Committee deals with labor regulations and policies that affect employers at a city, state and federal level. During his presentation, Edgar shared some of the highlights of the House of Representatives version of their WIOA reauthorization bill compared to the U.S. Senate’s WIOA draft bill. There are still uncertainties of what a final WIOA reauthorization draft could look like, and as such, the VICA Labor & Employment Committee decided not to vote on anything yet.
