Last fall, L.A. Unified schools had the opportunity to learn what it means to be a community school and how they can apply for the new cohort of community schools.

Schools interested in becoming community schools submitted their application in January and their applications were reviewed and rated by volunteer reviewers. The Community School Steering Committee (CSSC) met in early February to review the application ratings and they ended up selecting 22 schools to join Cohort 4. Cohort 4 schools will start the community schools’ designation process in the 2023-24 school year.
