In April, UNITE-LA's L.A Youth at Work collaborated in hosting work-readiness certifications (WRCs) for two LAUSD high schools, which included 11th grade students from Bravo Medical High School and Orthopaedic Hospital Medical Magnet High School. We interviewed more than 240 youth across three days! Through the WRCs, we seek to increase students' awareness and preparedness for summer jobs and internships in health care.
We recruited more than 25 industry professionals to participate as mock interviewers providing students with feedback and guidance through the assessments. Some of the participating industry partners included Bexa Healthcare, Cisco Systems, Los Angeles Public Library, LAUSD, Public Health Institute, and also included volunteers through LinkedIn and VolunteerMatch. Our many thanks to those partners who helped prepare the next generation of our workforce!
