During the 2023-24 legislative season, UNITE-LA advocated for AB 2239, a State of California digital discrimination ordinance.
While it did not get out of appropriations, the Digital Equity Los Angeles (DELA) Coalition is prepared to advocate for it in the 2024-25 legislative season. Additionally, UNITE-LA supported a half-day DELA Coalition advocacy activation and training session at Maywood City Hall. There, a total of 50 people participated in the Spanish and English interactive storytelling and digital equity training session to learn how to best advocate to their local elected officials for digital discrimination solutions. As a result, many used their new advocacy skills in support of a digital discrimination ordinance at the Aug. 20 Huntington Park City Council meeting.
