UNITE-LA Today: Digital Equity Remains a Priority

On May 19, the Los Angeles Digital Equity Action League (LA DEAL) held the L.A. Region Broadband for All, Digital Equity and BEAD Planning Workshop, at L.A. Trade-Tech.

The event gathered input from local stakeholders to inform the state's Digital Equity Plan. The state's Digital Equity Plan will be used to decide how historic federal funds are invested to close broadband infrastructure gaps and increase internet adoption. This event was developed in partnership with the California Department of Technology, the California Public Utilities Commission, the California Emerging Technology Fund, the County of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Office of Education. Attendees included more than 150 people representing community, including speakers from each of the 10 covered populations, education, workforce, health care, elected officials, policymakers and city and county leadership from across the county, including a satellite event in the Antelope Valley. The draft state Digital Equity Plan should be released for public comment in July. Stay tuned!
