UNITE-LA Today: Meeting of the Minds

Last month, UNITE-LA President Alysia Bell and staff members Amber Chapman and Danielle Corpus traveled to Monterey, CA for California Workforce Association’s Meeting of the Minds 2023 conference. The conference brought together 600 participants with diverse backgrounds to work together to take on the issues surrounding workforce development in California and across the country.

Day 1 Recap: Alysia partnered with Linked Learning Alliance VP of Partnerships and Innovation, Spencer Sherman, to present on the Golden State Pathways Program. Meanwhile, Amber participated on a panel with City of Los Angeles Workforce Development Board Executive Director, Greg Irish, The Foundation for California Community Colleges Manager of Strategic Implementation, Leti Shafer, NPower Recruitment and Admissions Manager, Rocio Romero and moderated by The Foundation for California Community Colleges Education to Work Specialist, Keshia Peterson.

Day 2 Recap: UNITE-LA hosted a session called Breaking Barriers: Public-Private Collaborations in Tech, Health Care and Cleantech. This session was facilitated by Alysia and featured Amber, Joy Hermsen with Futuro Health and Tim Aldinger with the Foundation for California Community Colleges.
