Over the last month, UNITE-LA’s My Pathway to Health program has seen many successes as we transition from allied health training to job placement.
- Ten participants have already completed their trainings and received a certificate of completion, including seven from the Futuro Health Peer Support Specialist Program and three from the Worker Education Resource Center Community Health Worker Program.
- Five participants are currently in training programs, including one in West L.A. College's CNA Program, two in the Phlebotomy USA Program, one in L.A. Mission College's Phlebotomy Program, and one in the LACC Medical Assistant program.
- Two other individuals are applying for the Providence Health Community Health Worker Academy, which launches in January 2024.
- Three participants dual enrolled in training programs.
For the job placement portion, UNITE-LA is providing support to participants with job/internship placement and has helped place five participants so far, three Community Health Workers with L.A. County’s Department of Health, one as a Research Associate at UCLA Health, and one as a Medical Assistant at Concierge Healthcare Partners. UNITE-LA will continue to support participants during and upon completion of their training programs with training material, guidance with and payment of state certification exam fees, job/internship placement, and one-to-one staff and wraparound support.
